not your ordinary baby bag

     i came across this baby bag website called storksak and they have the most stylish baby bags! the bags look like a normal purse, just a lot bigger and more storage options for all the extra things you will be carrying! i have fallen in love with the olivia style bag and i keep hinting to thomas to get it for me! i told him i have left the webpage open on my computer so he will have easy access to purchasing it for me! i hope sooo bad that i get it! its $200 and after looking through their website it is one of the more reasonable priced bags. like i told thomas, this is a bag that is going to be leaving the house with me every single day! so it needs to be stylish and needs to be a bag that will go with every outfit and every season! even though i have a baby that doesnt mean i still cant be a stylish momma!

20 weeks!

     okay.. so im a little behind! time just goes  by so fast! im 20 weeks now and at the halfway point. according to baby center my baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces and is around 6 1/2 inches long from crown to rump, the length of a banana, and about 10 inches from from head to heel! now that sounds like a big baby, but unfortunately for me its not even half its birth length yet! for the first 20 weeks, when baby's legs are curled up against their torso and hard to measure, so baby's measurements are taken from crown to rump. after 20 weeks the baby is measured from head to toe.

     a couple interesting things i learned about my baby last week at 19 weeks is that hair on the baby's head started sprouting (hopefully it will be my hair and not thomas's!!), and a waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa also started forming on the skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.
     i can feel the baby moving all the time, especially after i eat something sugary! it feels almost like a strong bubble in your stomach pushing up against the inside of your stomach. the baby does not like to be pushed on, but i do it anyway because then it kicks my my hand and tries to push it away or moves to another spot!
     only a few more days i find out if its a boy or a girl! i am so anxious to know what it is and i am counting down the days!!

20 weeks!

17 weeks!

     today i am 17 weeks along and i had another four week doctors appointment this morning! the first thing the nurse did when i went back to the room was take my blood pressure. she quickly told me to take a deep breath and said my blood pressure was very high. she had an extremely worried look on her face but i felt fine! she then ask if i had a headache or was seeing white spots and i wasnt experiencing any of those things so i told her no. but of course i then started to freak myself out and thinking to myself "oh my gosh, am i really feeling okay? is my head hurting, have i been seeing white spots?!" but then i calmed myself down and reminded myself that i was feeling okay and that sometimes my blood pressure runs high.
     the worst part of the appointment is having to get on the scale! i was dreading seeing the number on the scale and i tried to stand in a position to block the view so thomas couldnt see what it was. but i surprised to see that the number wasnt as high as i had expected so i let him know what it was. when the doctor came in the room i asked him if my weight from four weeks ago was in my file and he said yes and then told me i had gained 5 and a half pounds, which he then said was PERFECT! that put a big smile on my face! who wouldnt love to hear their doctor say that their weight gain is perfect!
     then the doctor had me lay down and he felt my stomach to see how big everything was getting and he said it was the perfect size!! i looked at thomas right away and had the biggest smile on my face because i feel so fat recently and i dont feel like i look pregnant yet, i feel like i just look fat. so i am very pleased with everything i had heard! and then for my favorite part we got to listen to the baby's heartbeat. every time it is so surreal to me, to hear someone elses heart beating inside of you is just the strangest thing.  i told thomas i wanted to look into renting one of those little machines, just so i could listen to the heart all day long. he just looked at me like i was crazy and laughed, but i was being serious.

          the baby weighs about 5 ounces and is around 5 inches long from head to bottom. the baby is going through a growth spurt the next couple weeks and will be doubling its weight and adding inches to its length! this week it is the size of a turnip!

     my next appointment is may 1 at 3:00, and i will be finding out the sex of the baby! i will be posting that news as soon as i get home, and it will be a creative reveal and i am so excited about it! and dont ask me because im not telling anyone! you will just have to wait to be surprised!
