21 weeks!

     today was a big day! first let me start off with an update on the progress of the baby! it is now about three quarters of a pound and approximately 10 1/2 inches long, the length of a carrot. the baby is constantly moving and going crazy in there! i have no idea what it is doing but what ever it is, it must be fun! in other developments the baby's eyebrows and eye lids are now present!

    
     now for the good stuff!
     as you all know i was having my ultrasound today to find out the sex of the baby! i have been feeling so strongly that it is a boy and would bet any money on it! all my dreams this pregnancy have been of boys and its all thomas and i ever talk about! so thomas and i were extremely anxious to find out if my premonitions were correct! but i was very bummed to find out that thomas would be unable to make it to the appointment about two hours before we were suppose to be there, because of a shortage in staff. fortunately my mom was planning on going with us so she was there with me through the whole thing! so she would be the first to hear "i told you so!!" if it indeed turned out to be correct!
     when the ultrasound technician started she asked where thomas was and i told her he wouldnt be coming, so she asked "if you want, would you like me to write down the sex of the baby and put it in an envelope so you and thomas can look at it together?"
     i ponder the idea for a moment and looked at my mom for some guidance on what i should do but she was just staring at me waiting for a response, so i simply said "no." calm as can be! they both laughed and i said i can not wait any longer and i will go crazy if i have to!! besides, i made it to the appointment so why should i be tortured and have to wait!??
     the ultrasound technician was kind enough to let us take a short video with my phone of the baby so i could share it with thomas, and now i am sharing it with you! the baby's head is on the left and the body goes towards the right. the hand is also right next to the chest. 

     after my mom and i left the appointment i knew the gender of the baby and shortly after i started calling family and texting friends regarding what i was having! i even received a text from the father to be asking what we were having and i replied by letting him know he would have to wait until he got home, which he found some humor in!
     so on our way home i wanted to stop at nordstrom to buy the baby a little onesie that was gender specific and get it gift wrapped so thomas could open it and discover for himself what we were having!
     when thomas walked in the door he immediately asked "so what is it??!" but i told him i wasnt going to tell him yet and i could see he was getting extremely anxious! so after a little small talk i showed him the box and told him it was for him to open and he would know right away what we were having! here is the video of thomas finding out the news!

     we are both very excited and very surprised!! i can not wait for the day that i get to hold this little baby in my arms and see what i created! but now the fun begins! i can start buying more baby clothes and all kinds of things!! i will continue to keep you posted! and tomorrow i will post a couple of the ultrasound pictures, but right now i am very tired and need to sleep, today was an extremely eventful day!

not your ordinary baby bag

     i came across this baby bag website called storksak and they have the most stylish baby bags! the bags look like a normal purse, just a lot bigger and more storage options for all the extra things you will be carrying! i have fallen in love with the olivia style bag and i keep hinting to thomas to get it for me! i told him i have left the webpage open on my computer so he will have easy access to purchasing it for me! i hope sooo bad that i get it! its $200 and after looking through their website it is one of the more reasonable priced bags. like i told thomas, this is a bag that is going to be leaving the house with me every single day! so it needs to be stylish and needs to be a bag that will go with every outfit and every season! even though i have a baby that doesnt mean i still cant be a stylish momma!

20 weeks!

     okay.. so im a little behind! time just goes  by so fast! im 20 weeks now and at the halfway point. according to baby center my baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces and is around 6 1/2 inches long from crown to rump, the length of a banana, and about 10 inches from from head to heel! now that sounds like a big baby, but unfortunately for me its not even half its birth length yet! for the first 20 weeks, when baby's legs are curled up against their torso and hard to measure, so baby's measurements are taken from crown to rump. after 20 weeks the baby is measured from head to toe.

     a couple interesting things i learned about my baby last week at 19 weeks is that hair on the baby's head started sprouting (hopefully it will be my hair and not thomas's!!), and a waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa also started forming on the skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.
     i can feel the baby moving all the time, especially after i eat something sugary! it feels almost like a strong bubble in your stomach pushing up against the inside of your stomach. the baby does not like to be pushed on, but i do it anyway because then it kicks my my hand and tries to push it away or moves to another spot!
     only a few more days i find out if its a boy or a girl! i am so anxious to know what it is and i am counting down the days!!

20 weeks!

17 weeks!

     today i am 17 weeks along and i had another four week doctors appointment this morning! the first thing the nurse did when i went back to the room was take my blood pressure. she quickly told me to take a deep breath and said my blood pressure was very high. she had an extremely worried look on her face but i felt fine! she then ask if i had a headache or was seeing white spots and i wasnt experiencing any of those things so i told her no. but of course i then started to freak myself out and thinking to myself "oh my gosh, am i really feeling okay? is my head hurting, have i been seeing white spots?!" but then i calmed myself down and reminded myself that i was feeling okay and that sometimes my blood pressure runs high.
     the worst part of the appointment is having to get on the scale! i was dreading seeing the number on the scale and i tried to stand in a position to block the view so thomas couldnt see what it was. but i surprised to see that the number wasnt as high as i had expected so i let him know what it was. when the doctor came in the room i asked him if my weight from four weeks ago was in my file and he said yes and then told me i had gained 5 and a half pounds, which he then said was PERFECT! that put a big smile on my face! who wouldnt love to hear their doctor say that their weight gain is perfect!
     then the doctor had me lay down and he felt my stomach to see how big everything was getting and he said it was the perfect size!! i looked at thomas right away and had the biggest smile on my face because i feel so fat recently and i dont feel like i look pregnant yet, i feel like i just look fat. so i am very pleased with everything i had heard! and then for my favorite part we got to listen to the baby's heartbeat. every time it is so surreal to me, to hear someone elses heart beating inside of you is just the strangest thing.  i told thomas i wanted to look into renting one of those little machines, just so i could listen to the heart all day long. he just looked at me like i was crazy and laughed, but i was being serious.

          the baby weighs about 5 ounces and is around 5 inches long from head to bottom. the baby is going through a growth spurt the next couple weeks and will be doubling its weight and adding inches to its length! this week it is the size of a turnip!

     my next appointment is may 1 at 3:00, and i will be finding out the sex of the baby! i will be posting that news as soon as i get home, and it will be a creative reveal and i am so excited about it! and dont ask me because im not telling anyone! you will just have to wait to be surprised!

baby listening!

     at 20 weeks gestation the baby is able to start hearing and at 30 weeks is when its memory starts. i have a couple weeks to go until the baby can start hearing my voice, and everything else for that matter! i already told thomas that every night he will have to start reading the baby a story when we go to bed! so i will have to make sure i watch what i say so the baby doesnt hear anything it shouldnt! that also means no more arguing with thomas! ha! that is much easier said than done, but i will try :)
     when i get to 30 weeks and the baby is able to start forming memories im going to get some bellybuds!! bellybuds are headphones for pregnant women to put on their tummies so their baby can hear family members or listen to prenatal music! my plan is for the baby to get use to listening to certain music in the womb and then after its born i will play the music at bedtime, to help baby revert back to its safe and comfortable days in my tummy. hopefully my plan works!
     the belly buds are cool because you can plug the headphones into anything! it is definitely a must have baby product! so if you have a baby shower coming up anytime soon it would be the perfect baby shower gift!

boy or girl?

     i will be finding out the sex of the baby in about four weeks but i keep trying to figure out if i can tell if its a boy or girl!
     in a book i read, it said if you find you are eating like a teenage boy then you are probably pregnant with a boy, boys tend to eat more and boys are mostly born with a higher birth weight than girls, believed to be because of the extra food that is consumed during gestation. so with all of that being said, i do not have much of an appetite recently and dont eat very much so it must be a girl..?
     BUT i also read in a pregnancy magazine that if you have a dream about the sex of the baby than you will most likely be correct. and so far i have had three dreams that is been a boy, so it must be a boy..?
      this is such a frustrating waiting game! i do not know how women can find the patience to keep it a secret until the baby is born! i would go insane if i had to wait the whole pregnancy to find out the sex of the baby! i will be counting down the days until i find out! but what are your guesses??

   

hello again!

     so much has changed in the last couple months and not a day goes by that i dont think about the need to blog about it and let everyone know what is going on! so i guess the biggest news that i need to share is that i am pregnant!
     my due date is September 11th and i'm already so anxious for the day to come! i found out January 12th and the first thing i could think of was that my wedding dress wouldn't fit me, which turns out i was correct. i had already purchased my dress and a week before the wedding i needed to go in and get a bigger size!
i was so embarrassed to tell them that i needed to get a bigger size, especially because i had originally planned on losing weight before the wedding. so i told the girl who was helping me that i was pregnant and turns out she was too! it made it a lot less awkward. i ended up having to get a dress 2 sizes bigger!!! ugh! but everything turned out perfect!

i am 16 weeks along now and according to an app that i have my baby the size of an avocado, 4 1/2 inches long! every week it tells me the size of the baby and compares is to a food!

this is going to be the craziest year ever!

after much delay..

     here are my wedding shoes!! i love them so much! i want to wear them so bad but i cant! sometimes i just want to put them on and wear them around the house but i know i need to wait until the wedding. they are 5 inches tall with blue satin and rhinestones down both heels! let me know what you think!

     happy new year everyone!! one of my new years resolutions is to stay on top of my blogging! i got out of it for a little while and im not exactly sure why, but im going to work hard on staying on top of things this time!
     so to start off the new year i am happy to announce that i am engaged!! i am very excited but also very overwhelmed!

     the wedding is going to be on valentines day in VEGAS!!! its going to be a very small wedding, and kind of informal. but after more saving we plan on having a big wedding with ALL of our friends and family. it will either happen on our first or second anniversary, all pending on thomas's deployment schedule. even though there is very little prep work involved, the wedding is in another state and i dont know exactly what is going on and its making me a little crazy! i just can not wait to get there and start having everything come together!
